KALAPANA

Or rather the late Kalapana... It was indeed, in the past, a prosperous fishing village but, between 1989 and 1991, the lava flows of the volcano almost completely wiped it out. There are still a few houses, but they have neither electricity nor water, and their owners are unable to sell them (in spite of multiple advertisements in the newspapers and their low prices). Depending on the volcanic activity of the moment, it is possible to go to the viewing area where the lava has cut the highway. From here a short walk will guide you on the lava.
