Bordering Highway 71, which runs parallel to I-49, Cheneyville is part of Rapides Parish and has a population of just over 560. This is not the place to find the most action in Louisiana! The village was named after settler William Cheney and had an important role in the Restoration Movement, a movement born in the early 19th century that wanted to reform the church in order to unite all Christians under the New Testament. Apart from the few shops in the center of the village, there is not much to see, except the Loyd Hall Plantation which cannot be visited, but where it is possible to spend the night.
