This tiny island of 0.03 km2 owes its name to its rounded shape reminiscent of the ancient sails of ships. In its waters live sharks, whales and dolphins. Isla Roca Redonda is nestled to the northwest of Isabela Island and is one of the breeding grounds for the black-headed gull, a species of seabird endemic to the Galapagos Islands.
