18 km from Guayaquil, on the coastal road to Salinas. Puerto Hondo, barely visible from the road, is home to 70 families of indigenous fishermen, living in traditional houses next to the mangrove forest. This precious vegetation is a refuge for crustaceans, fish and birds. The mangroves are accessible and it is possible to rent a pirogue and sail to discover this typical landscape. It is also possible to swim in perfectly clean water filtered by mangroves.Facing the forest, the archeological site Palobamba keeps the visible traces of the very old huancavilca culture.
