MERCADOS

Chiquimula has two markets: one behind the parish church located in Parque Ismael Cerna and the other next to the bus station. In addition to the basic necessities for the population, they sell handicrafts produced in the Ch'orti' villages of the surrounding mountains. There are also small restaurants that offer lunch for a small fee; if you don't want to eat there, it is always interesting to have a look. They are held mainly on Thursdays and Sundays.
