TERMINAL DE BUS

From Huehuetenango it is possible to reach the border town of La Mesilla, the main cities of the highlands and Guatemala Ciudad. All buses (mainly 2 ^nd class) leave a single bus station located in Zona 4, approximately 2.5 km west of Parque Central. You will find that a dozen companies provide daily transportation of travelers, sharing the network. Here are some routes, but these are not exhaustive.

La Mesilla (80 km). Departures every 30 minutes from 6 a. m. 20 Q (2 hours).

San Cristóbal de las Casas (Mexico). Take a bus for Mesilla. Go to the migration office of La Mesilla. At the border then take a taxi to Ciudad Cuauhtémoc. Go to the migration office. Then take a bus to Comitán, then Comitán in San Cristóbal. Starting at 7 a. m. Huehuetenango, we can do it at around 3:30 p. m.

Quetzaltenango (Xela). Theoretical departure every 15 minutes (from 6:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m.), but buses leave only when they are full. 20 Q (2 hours). Otherwise, take any bus to Panajachel or Guatemala Ciudad and change to Cuatros Caminos. From there, many buses provide the link to Xela.

Guatemala Ciudad. Departures about every hour at 60 Q (from 5 to 6 hours). 70 Q in 1 ^st class with Velásquez Company (8 departures per day).

Panajachel. Departures every hour from 6 a. m. to 4 p. m. or go to any bus leaving for the capital and get off at Los Encuentros. From there every 10 minutes, until 6:30 p. m., buses go down to Sololá and Panajachel. The trip costs between 40 and 50 Q (approximately 3 hours 30 to reach the shores of the lake. So avoid leaving the afternoon. You will avoid missing the connection for Panajachel.).

Todos Santos' Cuchumatán. The Transportes Concepción Nerita, Bus del Sur and Flor de María travel to this city. 7 departures from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. From Todos Santos to Huehue starts from 4:00 a. m. to 9:30 a. m. 25 Q (2 hours).
