Bezerros is a small town with 58,000 inhabitants. On the road from Recife to Caruaru, it is the city of the famous engraver J. Borges. Not to be missed: the artist's studio is open to visitors! The history of this small town, according to the IBGE, dates back to the middle of the 18th century. A ranch was created by the Torres family in 1740 and a chapel was built under the invocation of São José. At the end of the 17th century, the chapel, which was in ruins, was rebuilt. Versions differ as to the origin of the toponym Bezerros: when the village was founded in the last century, it was already officially known as Bezerros.
