RUA DAS RENDEIRAS

As in many parts of the world, embroidery is a traditional craft. In the rua das Rendeiras (literally embroiderers' street), in the Pontal da Barra fishermen's district, you'll find the women who make filé, an embroidery typical of the state of Alagoas. You can see them making the pieces directly, and it's hard to leave empty-handed. In this popular and pleasant district, you'll find numerous stalls dedicated to this traditional art, at very affordable prices. In short, a "smart" purchase.
