This small provincial town is located about 90 km from the village of Aribinda, by the R 6 track along a very beautiful shrub landscape of shrub savanna. Mainly populated by Peuls, Djibo, the head of the vast province of the Soum, is not a lighthouse, but its position at the crossroads of several routes. It is located between Dori and Ouahigouya and also on the N 22 road connecting Ouaga. The latter offers a good alternative to Kaya-Dori's road, to avoid ironing twice the same route during a visit to the Sahel. However, Djibo does not miss tourist attractions. Organized around the mosque which dominates them, its houses with terraces form a whole that has charm. Its livestock market is the largest livestock market in Burkina Faso, or even the subregion! It stands out from the city center every Wednesday, which is probably the main point of interest for the traveler. Peuareg and Mossi gather together around the cattle sold or traded. It is not unusual to cross the merchants mounted on their dromadaires. Jewelers, weavers, blacksmiths, potters and vanniers are also present and their production deserves a glance.Security. During our investigation, the Town of Djibo is formally discouraged (red zone) by the EOM. The city suffered various attacks and was also the site of the abduction of Dr. Kenneth Elliot (an Australian since 1972 in the commune) in January 2016 by the terrorist group AQMI. He's still captive to date. Before traveling, it is imperative to inquire about developments at www.diplomatie.gouv.fr
