A large village with approximately 40 000 inhabitants spread over 5 900 km ², it has 14 villages in addition to Pama. Pama was once the capital of the Gourmantché country, before losing its status to Fada N'Gourma. Nestled at the foot of imposing rocks, this charming village has no other interest for the traveller than to serve the region's camps. Pama is one of the entrance gates to Burkina Faso's largest natural reserves, and an almost mandatory stopover for travellers to Lake Kompienga and Benin. This superb region deserves several days on the lake and on natural reserves.
