During the Great Depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt founded Works Progress Administration, whose aim is to create jobs. Thanks to this reformation, 500 men and women with unemployment participate in the construction of this building. It is opened in 1937 by F.D. Roosevelt and becomes historical monument in 1972. In 1980, this huge chalet perched at 1828 m altitude is backdrop outside the film Stanley Kubrick, The Shining.

The 70 rooms are furnished in a rustic style and combine comfort and modernity: TV and internet access on one side and telephone with face of the other. Spa, heated outdoor swimming pool, sauna. Excellent restaurant and bar complete the offer. Its unique location in the heart of the ski area, its warm atmosphere and its peace make this hotel an exceptional place. Even if there is the possibility to spend the night there, that is worth to make a detour to visit this real museum. Over two million skiers, hikers, curious through the doors of the lodge each year. It is one of the mythical places of Oregon.
