From Hood River, GOLD 35 joins Mount Hood (48 km). South of Dee, Lost Lake is a beautiful mountain lake. On the road you will discover the Fruit loop, namely orchards, farms and forests where there are reasons for stopping, between pears, breweries and vineyards.Then, we join the huge Mount Hood National Forest, by with some of Oregon's most beautiful hiking trails: the Timberline Trail, which crosses Mount Hood, or the Oregon Skyline Trail section of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail which, from British Columbia to the Mexican border, crosses the entire western United States. With 3 424 m altitude, Mont Hood, a former volcano covered with eternal snow, is the highest point of the state. We skis all year round.The Village Camp village serves all ski resorts in the region. Cooper Spur Ski Area is one of the oldest. Mount Hood Meadows offers the largest ski area in the area. We can reach Portland by the U.S. 26, a superb scenic road following the former Barlow Trail that the pioneers borrowed to cross the Cascade chain.
