This 16th-century castle is the historic seat of the Menzies clan, and occupied a strategic military position for over 400 years. Involved in the high points of Highland history, Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed here on his way to the Battle of Culloden. Its high, austere walls house a few rooms that are actually cheerful and classy, in stark contrast to its exterior appearance. This is due to the renovations it has undergone over the years, transforming it from a defensive fortress into a comfortable noble residence.
