Medieval arcades housing shops in Carentan, a unique vestige in Normandy and a witness of ancestral know-how.
There are these small architectural feats that we don’t necessarily see, but which, if we look closely, are worth a few minutes. Witnesses of an ancestral know-how, they are in Normandy a unique vestige: four houses are juxtaposed, joined by ten pillars. It is suspected that they housed a covered market in the 15th century, which also existed in the 14th century in the southern part of the town. Today the medieval arcades, historical monuments, house shops, restaurants, but also the local tourist office.

Arcades Médiévales 50500 Carentan-Les-Marais
Les arcades médiévales valent à elles seules le détour, même si elles ne sont pas forcément beaucoup mises en valeur selon moi. Les maisons accolées sont curieusement construites, certaines ne laissant que peu d'espace entre la fenêtre d'une maison et la maison voisine, sur le côté latéral. A voir.
