The old port of Bermeo has several maritime-inspired sculptures, such as "Olatua" by the artist Nestor Basterretxea, which represents a large 8-metre steel wave. Strolling through its narrow streets lined with fishermen's houses, you will see the oldest fountain in Bizkaia. Built in the 16th century, it provided drinking water for all the boats that moored in the port. The coat of arms of Charles V and the Lord of Bizkaia can still be seen there.
