This small town is best known for its Toshimayama Park, which offers a beautiful view of the bay, and its Abare Festival, which takes place on the first Friday and Saturday of every July. Also known as the "rampage festival" or the "festival of fire and violence", this violent and noisy celebration is a tribute to the eradication of a contagious disease that struck the region in the mid-1600s. At the time, an attempt was made to appease the deity Gozu Tenno, who is said to have saved the town by sending a giant bee whose sting cured the disease. There are several buses that connect to Wajima.
