Hegura-jima is located about 50 km north of Wajima. It is a lonely island beaten by the sea, whose coasts are composed of creeks and cliffs. It is also known for its women divers, the ama, who practice snorkeling, and for wild bird watching in Japan. It is a treat for birdwatchers (especially since the island is so quiet). A ferry takes you there, departure at 9am from Wajima and return at 3pm (2pm from November to February). Here, there are no cars, no motorcycles, only some peaceful fishermen. You can spend the night in minshuku.
