Located 27 km south of Ōshima, it is the smallest of the seven islands (4.2 km², 8 km in circumference). Of volcanic origin, it is distinguished by a camellia farm that occupies nearly 80% of its area. The population, made up of a few hundred people, is concentrated in the north and lives essentially from the extraction of camellia oil. The magnificent flowering takes place between December and February. It is also the ideal place to contemplate the stars. This mountainous island does not offer a nice beach for swimming
