This group of traditional houses is located 4 kilometers from Suganuma. In a beautiful house-museum, the Murakami-ke, one can listen to songs and ballads. These are accompanied by various musical instruments, including sasaras (wooden flappers) and kokiriko. Note also the Hakusan-gū shrine, whose main building dates from 1502. Dances are performed here on stage during the traditional festival held each year in spring. A rental car is probably the easiest way to visit this remote rural area of Japan and drive from village to village.
