Small historic park in the heart of the city of Las Vegas hosting several events throughout the year
The Mormons were the first non-native settlers in the region to move into the "prairies. Their evangelistic endeavor soon turned into a mining operation in search of silver seams. The Indians did not like this and resisted. This antagonism combined with the depletion of the mines caused the Mormons to leave the area after building a fort in Las Vegas in 1855. It is the remains of this earth and stone building that are preserved in this small park in the heart of the city. A historical parenthesis that changes from the flashing neon lights.
