The incredible PoMo campus by Richard Meir, and the Richard Irwin garden are almost more of a draw than the collection itself, though it is the best collection of European art on the west coast. Not exactly a hidden secret, but is, in fact, worth the schlepp to Brentwood.
Blood Exhibition- It was underwhelming. Although the Getty itself, is a very modern unique and beautiful museum, with impressive views, in my opinion, it cannot compare to any of the European museums' I have visited , This specific exhibitiion had not many interesting pieces with very vague information. It was quite disappointing,
Enjoyed spending time with the family viewing the Garden and the many exhibits. My favorite exhibit remains the growth of The Los Angeles Freeway system because the temporary exhibit was both informative and relevant.
The place is absolutely amazing, best museum layout ever. Trying to leave is an absolute nightmare. Employees should be assisting this mess. Plan on 30-60 minutes trying to leave.
Went there with friends and two 4 year olds. This place is like supermax prison. Security guards hate kids and don’t even let them walk left, right of fast. We were given over 20 warnings for things that just blew our minds. For example not touching some random thick glass where was no nothing behind it. Not walking close to the water etc. There was a big entertainment screen about 20 inches from the floor with seats in front of it to take a virtual tour. The security guard yelled at us (yes they all like mad dogs there) saying this is not for kids.????????♂️
This museum is very much about the outside than the inside. The art inside was good, but definitely not the biggest attraction. The architecture and the gardens are much more the attraction. I was there in July of 2021 where there was a cool exhibit of photography of the BLM movement, which was my art highlight. The gardens and little creek going through the property were my outside highlights.
The museum is free, though the parking is not. The parking garage and train from the garage to the museum proper were a big part of the overall experience. The plants and beauty started as soon as you drove into the parking lot and continued the entire way along the train to the museum.
It's good to visit frequently as the team Leia bringing new pieces. The gardens are also wonderfully maintained with various flowers depending on the time of the year.

I love painting, these paintings are beautiful, a legacy☝️
Beautiful place for picnic under the sunny-shining weather.
