In addition to its excellent musical programming, the club has become famous for the many "incidents" that have occurred there. There have been overdoses, marital settlements and fights between paparazzi and stars caught in the act of all kinds of illicit acts. Johnny Depp even took over management of the premises, before relinquishing it in 2004. Although drug problems seem to persist, the venue is highly regarded for its concerts: Courtney Love, Bruce Springsteen, Oasis and Lenny Kravitz have all performed there.
