Amazing! Awesome menu, great staff. Felt welcome from the moment I walked in the door. Sat in an incredible Garden. Could have been in the south of France for all I knew. What a wonderful experience.
Michael's has absolutely maintained the highest standards over many years. Sitting in the garden for dinner on a crisp December night is just heavenly. The wine list is great and we were able to start with a few bottles of Montrachet. We are meat eaters so my partner loved the hanger steak with fries while I enjoyed the seared diver scallops. Our friends who are vegetarians enjoyed the pizzas and pastas. Overall this is one of the finest dining experiences you can have in Los Angeles.
Great environment to eat. I would recommend to my friends but I have eaten at better places so reluctant to score a 5. They have a happy hour. Don't look much from the front but the rear of the restaurant is full of plants, like eating in a garden.
I would rate higher overall if it were not for the very small branzino portion. Was more like a half portion compared to most restaurants that serve it in the area..
Loved this place! The fig and blue cheese pizza was incredible along with a beautiful wine list. Great atmosphere and really lovely service. Highly recommend.
Excellent service, (thanks Tiffany!), great cocktails, tasty food and a well priced wine list in a lovely al fresco setting. A perfect Santa Monica dinner location. Thank you.
Our waiter was very kind and patient with our large group, which we appreciated. I thought the food was very mediocre for the price, but it was acceptable. We sat outside and the tables were covered in twigs, leaves, and bugs. That's fine given that it's outdoor seating, but I wish the staff could have cleaned it before we sat down as it was slightly unappetizing to have dead insects on our plates.
Michael’s used to be such a great resturant. I used to
come to
michaels for so many wine tasting dinners. Honestly it is not the same anymore. Lots bad attitude on part of the staff. In a town with so many Michelin Stars Michaels is only a has been resturant. I will never go back!
We went to Michael’s for the Valentines dinner, and I can honestly say it was the worst meal and service I’ve ever had. I never write reviews, but I am so disappointed by how much we spent ($350+) for the quality of the food and service. After sitting down, it took 40 minutes to get our first drinks, which were only beers on tap. We didn’t get our first appetizer until 1.5hrs after sitting - I was starving, it was 8:15pm by that point. The duck confit was cold and dry, really just not good. We got our dinner about 2/2.5hrs later, and the food again was only fair. We had prepaid for dessert, but we had been there over 3hrs and finally just asked for the dessert to go. Nothing was comped, they didn’t reduce our bill or bring us any extra drinks/snacks - they just kept saying “sorry we’re backed up.” Just really annoying how much we paid for this kind of food and service. Don’t recommend and will not return :(
Very nice restaurant in the 3rd street in Santa Monica. Nice area outside with great atmosphere. The beef with fries was delicious with sauce au poivre and delicious fries. Very decent prices as well for the quality of the food. Nice and friendly staff. Only downturn was the short wine list wine a bit overpriced bottles considering the quality.
Tiffany, our guide, brought such grace.
The atmosphere, a charming trace,
Where every detail finds its place.
Freshness blooms in every dish,
A seasonal menu, a delectable wish.
The duck, a savory, succulent bliss,
A culinary dance, nothing to miss!
Service and atmosphere was great. Good cocktails
A beautiful space with an inventive menu. Bonus points for the manager or owner himself (Michael, one assumes) stopping by to say hello.
Made for a very lovely evening reuniting with old friends. Many thanks to our waitress and to the chef.
