Quick, casual, and relatively inexpensive (though things can add up quickly) Sonoran-Mexican spot in the heart of DTLA. Their tortillas (made with lard, sorry vegans) are criminally good. It’s worth trying one of everything at some point. This last time I got a chicken taco and an asada “caramelo”. There’s plenty of bar top seating inside, and some tables outside; but generally it’s made for a quick bite.
I've googled myself into this place. After I ate I acknowledged it happened to be ranked 12th on the best 101 LA restaurants out there. Definitely earned spot. End up there eating twice during my short 10-day LA visit. Everything was fresh and superdelicious. And their salsas are an export quality. I ate a burito, and on the next visit i ate a chivichanga with guacamole and chips. Unfortunately, I didn't make any picture of it.
I regret not being able to eat more. The chivichangas with beef - small but mighty! The salsas were perfect to accompany the rich meaty insides! Horchata was also super delicious! Bought tortillas to bring home and looking forward to having a homemade snacks with them.
Our favorite spot to take people visiting from out of town for a true DTLA staple and treat. The burrito 2.0 is to die for. Highly recommend if you are nearby for a show at Orpheum, game at Crypto, or visit to the flower/fashion districts.
Went on a Wednesday night, welcomed by great customer service. The atmosphere was great, and great choice of music, bad bunny! Lol the food was so good! I wish I would’ve ordered more to take with me! The only downside is the location, the surrounding area is a little sketch but the restaurant alone was very well lit so that was good. Would definitely recommend!
It was so much fun and exciting to eat at this hip and happening Mexican cuisine restaurant. We loved the veggie tacos and quesadillas. Tangy and spices were to the point! Atmosphere is contagious. It’s street parking. Would love to come back to try their other dishes.
Sonoratown is a taco lover's dream come true! Authentic flavors, freshly made tortillas, and friendly service. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or indulging in a feast, Sonoratown is the place to be for mouthwatering tacos in LA.
I was in the downtown LA area & came across this small place. It was absolutely amazing! Probably one of the tastier tacos I’ve had in LA. I liked how the tortillas were very simple, homemade & thin. I ordered two steak & two chorizo tacos. They were both really good but the steak was delicious. Compared to other taco spots I’ve been to in LA, this steak was cooked well & had a great flavor. I went back & ordered more of the steak tacos because they were that good! The staff were very nice & welcoming, & the inside had a nice chill atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
The quality of the food here is exceptional. The flavors are top tier, and the tenderness of the meat was perfect. A must visit when you're in the area.
Best tacos I've had in years, possibly ever. This place feels like the real deal. It's a pretty small place with counter seating by the wall and a few chairs / tables outside. Lots of people seemed to just pick up and leave. I wish I had been in less of a hurry so I could have ordered more. Super friendly staff and overall a great atmosphere. This is not a place for people who don't eat meat or other animal products - the tacos are made with lard and they're incredible, but yeah, might not be for everyone.
Not only this but everyone working there is so nice and welcoming!
