Travel Guide Djermouk

It's a health walk that Djermouk, a spa resort east of Vayots Dzor, offers us. After the meals copiously watered in the villages of the region, we go to the water, but not just any water, the very sparkling Djermouk! To get there from Eghegnadzor, you have to take the direction of Vayk, from where you continue eastward, rather than following the sign indicating south. At 24 km from the fork, Djermouk is the terminus of this mountain road which follows the course of the Arpa river. It is a health resort that aspires to attract an international clientele, both summer and winter, as it is developing a ski resort. The most important health resort in Armenia is located at the springs of the Arpa, which offers its waters to Lake Sevan, connected by a tunnel to a reservoir built on the outskirts of the city. The numerous springs that gush out in impressive cascades from the surrounding mountains have made the reputation of this spa, whose name is associated with the most popular mineral water in Armenia. Developed during the Soviet period, the town bears the imprint of this in its neo-Armenian style buildings, made of pink tufa, which are its main attraction. But at an altitude of 2,100 m, even if you are not a spa visitor, Djermouk, with its rich accommodation capacity, is perhaps the starting point for beautiful walks in the surrounding mountains.
