GROTTA ROMANELLI

Natural site to discover

The Romanelli cave is one of Italy's most important geological and archeological sites. Paleontologists discovered in this vast cavity important traces of the first inhabitants who probably occupied the region at the Upper Paleolithic. In addition to the various materials exposed (mainly fossils and reindeer bones, elephants and even penguins, exposed to the Museo Civico di Paleontologia in Maglie), the cave has kept red paint on the walls and on the ground.
