Viitaranta is located 35 km northwest of Kuusamo. From Kuusamo, take road no. 81 towards Posio to Hietaniemi. At Hietaniemi, turn right onto the very minor road - watch your car! - to Viitaranta and Tolva. From here, you can admire the two peaks of the park (466 m and 456 m) which offer a splendid view of Lake Kitka after a 5 km climb. It is also possible to cross the park for 18 km to Karitunturi. The park is open in winter, possibility to hike with snowshoes, be careful to leave with several people, because the tracks are deserted and very wild!
