Just a few kilometers from the center of Mikkeli, head for Tornimäki, where three downhill ski runs, small ski jumps, toboggan runs and cross-country ski trails await you in this small family resort. It's perfectly suited to beginners, with a majority of runs on gentle slopes. There's also a rental store (or snowmobile shop) at the foot of the slopes. Good to know: prices for snowmobile outings here are much lower than in Lapland, so it's a good opportunity to try out the machines here!

The waters of Lake Saimaa are known for their purity and richness in fish, especially salmon trout. Saimaa Fishing Travels organizes fishing trips to several towns such as Mikkeli, Ristiina, Anttolan, Puumala... In winter, you can also discover and practice pilkkionginta, fishing through the ice. Reservations are required and only for groups. And for those who prefer, you can also simply rent a small boat (minimum three days rental) and enjoy the quietness of the landscape!
