Under favourable conditions, the town has 180 km of cross-country ski trails. The best ones are in the central park (Keskuspuisto), as they are regularly maintained. The tourist office of the town can provide you with further information and maps of the circuits and routes set up. An opportunity to combine sport with a truly unusual visit to the city. Iso Ysi is the name of the 9-hole course offered to the visitors of this golf course which has a good reputation in Finland as well as in the neighboring countries. The objective of the proposed facilities is to contribute to the democratization of this sport and the objective is fully met! On the program: a course with water hazards and bunkers scattered all along the course. Without pretension, the club-house will propose you a selection of fast food. A pro shop on site will also allow you to acquire all the equipment necessary to play golf.

Every winter, an open-air skating rink is set up next to Central Station, between the National Theater and the Museum of Fine Arts. You can skate to music and drink hot chocolate. Young and old alike flock to the rink, where the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The rink is usually open from early December to late March, depending on the weather. This prestigious 18-hole golf course was founded in 1932. This is the oldest golf course in Finland. However, it is still quite far from the city centre, but the public transit system makes it relatively easy to get there. A 19th century Empire-style mansion serves as a club house. It has a very good restaurant which offers a nice and pleasant view with its terrace overlooking the end of a course regularly hosting competitions.
