This reserve was founded in 1923, in tribute to the great poet Tarass Shevchenko, founder of the modern Ukrainian literary language, buried there. Since its funeral in 1861, this site has become a veritable pilgrimage site. Here you can see the tomb of the poet and, just next, the Tarass Shevchenko literary Museum and museum. The museum exhibits over 17 000 different works as well as some personal objects that belonged to the poet.
