PARC NATIONAL DE LURA ET DU MONT DEJA
A 193 protected area dominated by two peaks over 2,100 m high. Excursion recommended with a guide or agency.
This 193 km2 protected area (Parku Kombëtar Lurë-Mali i Dejës) begins south of the village of Lura. It is renowned for its glacial lakes, notably the "Great Lake" (Liqeni i Madh), which covers 32 ha at an altitude of 1,720 m. But the park is difficult to access and has been ravaged by illegal logging. The park is dominated by two major peaks: the "Crown of Lura" (Kurora e Lurës), at 2,119 m, and Mount Deja, further south, at 2,244 m.
