Lura/Lurë has around 800 inhabitants and belongs to the municipality of Dibër (Peshkopi). The village lies 44 km northeast of Peshkopi, 54 km east of Rrëshen and 98 km southwest of Kukës. This remote village is renowned for its large national park. But the park has been ravaged by illegal deforestation, and minibus connections are rare. These depart from Rrëshen, a town of 6,000 inhabitants located 47 km east of Lezha. The village is made up of several hamlets, with accommodation in Fushë-Lura (the "center" with the main mosque and stores) and Lura e Vjetër (gateway to the national park).
