With a population of 8,200, the city of Ketchikan is the5th largest city in Alaska and the3rd largest in the Southeast after Juneau and Sitka. The island of Revillagigedo, where Ketchikan is located, is one of the cradles of the Tlingit culture (20% of its inhabitants have Amerindian ancestors). In order to preserve this civilization, which has been under threat for centuries, dance groups, totem poles, museums and exhibitions are put forward. The economy of the city is based on tourism and the flood of cruise passengers who arrive daily. Fortunately, the small village along the arm of the sea between the islands of Revillagigedo and Gravina has a well-developed road network allowing access to less frequented sites.
