Built in 2002, the museum houses the contemporary art collection of Tsuneshi Suzuki (1930-2000), former head of the Pola cosmetics group. The building gives the impression of blending into nature, and an outdoor runway was added in 2013 to reinforce the connection between art and the surrounding natural environment. Works by Western painters and sculptors (Van Gogh, Dali, Matisse) rub shoulders with those of the great names in Japanese nihon-ga painting. A visit to the museum is an opportunity to explore the back-and-forth between Western and Japanese painting.
