It may seem strange for a tourist to go to a cemetery, but in noisy Tokyo, these places represent not inconsiderable spaces of peace. There are a few tombs or monuments to famous figures, such as the tomb of General Nogi, victor of the Russo-Japanese War, or novelists like Naoya Shiga, or Kabuki actors like Danjurō Ichikawa. Crossing the cemetery leads to Aoyama Palace. It's also a popular picnic spot for the Japanese at cherry blossom time.
