This building, erected over a ravine, is a stroke of architectural genius, responding to the constraints of Algiers' steep terrain.
Designed by the architect Pierre Marié in 1952, the Burdeau bridge-building is part of Le Corbusier's urban planning and architectural approach. This work is one of these architectural coups de genius that responds perfectly to the constraints of the steep terrain of Algiers. Erected over the Burdeau ravine, at the level of the loop of the boulevard Krim Belkacem leading to the Robertsau district, the bridge is also the roof of a residential building. There are only two such structures in the world. Visible from the loop of the boulevard Krim Belkacem.
