Since the 17th century, the Simonis estate has been handed down from generation to generation. For over 30 years now, it has been run by Jean-Marc Simonis, assisted by his wife. The estate cultivates the full range of Alsace's 7 grape varieties, as well as the Grand Cru Kaefferkopf, the jewel in the crown of Ammerschwihr's vineyards. This small 5-hectare estate wisely produces fine, well-balanced wines using integrated viticulture methods. Crémants d'Alsace are produced in white from Auxerrois grapes, and in rosé from Pinot Noir. Wines from the Grand Cru Kaefferkopf terroir are made from riesling, gewurztraminer, and even a blend of the two to marry the freshness and balance of riesling with the aromatic palette of gewurztraminer. The estate takes part in the "Pique-Nique chez le Vigneron" operation, which takes place every Whit Monday. It's an opportunity to taste our Pinot Noir, Kaefferkopf Grands Crus and, why not, the grape juice we make from Pinot Blanc and Muscat!
