Surrounded by wooded pastures, this peat bog pond is home to flora and fauna that are rare in Switzerland, and characteristic of the Siberian tundra. It also bears witness to the region's climate history over the last 12,000 years. Visitors can stroll along the trails and observe the plants and animals typical of the high marshes. We recommend taking a break at the Cerlatez nature center, where thematic exhibits provide a better understanding of the peat bog. Hiking enthusiasts can also extend their visit to the La Chaux-des-Breuleux peat bog, another high moor of national importance. L'Etang de la Gruère can be reached by train to Saignelégier, then by bus to the Les Cerlatez stop, or on foot.
