Today you can visit the museum, the cheese-making kitchen, the cheese cellar, the stable with its hand-forged chains and the hayloft, which is now an exhibition room on the alpine economy. Meetings are organised such as the butter-making process with comments from local people who keep this know-how alive.

STOCKALPER CASTLE
Read moreSwitzerland's largest manor house! It was built between 1658 and 1678 by Kaspar Jodok de Stockalper to designs by architects Bolmer and Prismell. The main building and the courtyard with its Renaissance-style arcades are protected by three Baroque towers topped by bulbous roofs. These impressive towers symbolized Stockalper's power. Indeed, this man, born in 1609, left his mark on the city. A renowned lawyer and respected politician, he soon became one of the most powerful figures in the Valais.
