Botanical Symmetries Exhibition

From 2021-11-05 to 2022-05-01

The new exhibition at the Lausanne Botanical Museum brings together two artists: Sandrine de Borman from Brussels and Patricia Laguerre from Lausanne. From November 5, 2021 to May 1, 2022, "Symmetries botaniques" questions the plant life of the Botanical Garden through the works of these two artists.

In the urgency of a reconnection to the plant world, the Botanical Museum's new art exhibition invites visitors to slowly observe each plant. In the first room, visitors can discover unpublished photographs of the plants in the Botanical Garden, which Patricia Laguerre has explored and photographed in her own slow, curious, dreamlike way

In a second room, Sandrine de Borman presents her tatakizome creations, plants hammered in a meditative rhythm where the tannins and other active principles of the plant leave their mark on the fabric.

A geometry and two chromatic ranges which answer each other in spite of their differences. Each tatakizome creation, each photograph, plunges the visitor into an imaginary world based on fragments of reality that the artists highlight through their arrangement

These symmetries reveal figures, mythological, human, animal, imaginary. They are familiar doors to connect with the otherness of the plant and give the impulse to look at the plant more closely, to know it better, and to protect it.
