Since its birth in 1948 in what was then an apartment in Geneva's Old Town, the Théâtre de Poche has distinguished itself by its avant-garde plays, daring creations and mission dedicated to contemporary texts.

Today, POCHE /GVE is still a theater of texts, committed and on the crest of today's concerns; about the place of women, the representation of minorities, the sustainability of live performance and society's openness to art and the stage.

It is politically, socially and geographically at the heart of the City of Geneva: at the service of local creation, it works with ensembles of female actors* and artistic creators, enabling artists to make a long-term commitment. The company also works over the long term, creating shows for long runs (12 performances minimum). POCHE /GVE presents artists with proven track records, but also encourages emerging talent, giving them a chance, trusting and believing in the talents of tomorrow. POCHE /GVE rigorously applies the profession's collective bargaining agreement and questions production systems to propose new, more ethical and sustainable forms of creation, and create a new theater factory.

Open, participative and radically rooted in today's world, it is a place for questioning and reflection. Its priority is to be a place for sharing, and it is open to all, enabling a dialogue between the public and the artists: introductions to the themes addressed, discussions around the shows, writing workshops, reviews, suspended tickets, welcoming groups with less easy access to the theater... A multitude of proposals are on the program to make everyone feel welcome in this friendly place.
