Museum showing the daily life of civilians in and around Cherbourg

Located on the Montagne du Roule, 117 meters above sea level, this museum is housed in a former Second Empire fort occupied by the German army during the Second World War. Its recapture by Allied troops in June 1944 is one of the symbols of the liberation of Cherbourg. The tour takes visitors from the invasion to the rebuilding of the town, highlighting its decisive role in the liberation of Europe. Last but not least, the view is breathtaking: not only the entire town, but also the entire harbour, is yours to enjoy!

Personne dans cette ville ne connaît Google visiblement. Musée indiqué comme Ouvert ici-même mais fermé jusqu’au 12 Septembre. C’est souvent ici que les touristes trouvent leurs infos ! Tout est fermé à Cherbourg à partir de 18h, voire n’est jamais ouvert tout court. Attention !

Personal muy atento siempre dispuesto a ayudar. Instalaciones bien conservadas con una buena puesta en escena de lo acontecido en la guerra y en el día D.

Musée surprenant perché au plus haut de Cherbourg, il retrace l'occupation de la ville et sa libération (d'où le nom). Très intéressant et permet d'en apprendre toujours plus sur l'histoire de la guerre dans sa globalité. Une visite que je recommande.

Attention à la montée en voiture, c'est très étroit et à bord de falaise puis le parking en haut est assez petit (après vu l'endroit, c'est normal).
