HÔTEL HOVLI POYON

Hotel €€
4.8/5
4 reviews

This venerable mansion built in 1869 and owned by the Emir of Bukhara is home to one of the best charming hotels in the old town. The whole complex was fully restored in 2013, with scrupulous respect for the historic nature of the site. The rooms now offer comfort at the height of the surrounding environment. The tree-lined garden and the iwan are delightful places to stroll around after a warm visit to the city. And the cool dinners with the light exhaled from the wall niches are particularly indicated and appreciated.

HÔTEL FATIMA

Hotel
5/5
3 reviews

In the heart of the old city, facing the Liab-i-Khaouz, the location is ideal for a comfortable stay in Bukhara. This hotel has been recently renovated, quite nicely, with a building in addition to the old structure. Fatima speaks English, and her daughter Feruza speaks French. The house is large and has a large courtyard with an iwan around which the rooms are distributed. Fatima has always been able to combine business with hospitality, and in addition to an incomparable welcome, her rates include one of the most generous breakfasts in the city.

BASILIC HOTEL

Situated 400 m from the emblematic Liab-i Khouz square, the Basilic is one of the latest additions to Bukhara's hotel industry. It combines the comfort of modern buildings with the care, craftsmanship and attention to detail of Uzbek ancestors. Lots of wood, frescoes narrating the legends of the country, refined mouldings of traditional stuccoes. 18 rooms, winter and summer bars, a beautiful terrace, a restaurant and a fountain. The rooms are spacious with bathtubs and the latest equipment. Our favorite spot in Bukhara!

AMELIA BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Hotel €€

Bahodir has made this house a small haven of peace. The rooms are comfortable and large, which is not always the case in Bukhara. In addition, a lot of attention was paid to the atmosphere. Thus, each room is decorated according to a precise theme: Omar Khayyam, Afrosyab, Silk Road... Our favourite: the Varakhsha room, where the famous mural representing a leopard hunt is reproduced on a whole section of the wall. It is good to stay there and rest while enjoying the coolness of the two inner courtyards around a cup of tea.

OMAR KHAYYAM

Hotel €€€

In the heart of the old town, between the hatters' and jewellers' cupolas, the hotel does not look very attractive from the outside, but hides behind its walls a vast oriental-style hall with a carved and painted wooden ceiling that augurs well for a very good suite. The rooms are spacious: no less than 17m2 without the bathroom, and nicely decorated. Impeccable comfort both in terms of bedding and bathroom equipment, all equipped with a bathtub. Excellent value for money, especially considering the location.

HOTEL MEKHTAR AMBAR

Hotel €€
4/5
1 review

It took two years of work to renovate this small caravanserai and turn it into a pleasant hotel. Fitted out in the cells, the rooms are obviously not very big, but decorated with taste in traditional Uzbek style, and comfortably equipped with small bathroom and air conditioning. They are articulated on two levels, around an octagonal courtyard, and a vast iwan decorates the second floor. The whole is located east of the city center, under the old city, near Chor Minor and 200 m from the Liab-i-Khaouz. Nice view from the roof.

Large traditional nineteenth century house owned by a rich Jewish dealer in spices, cotton and tea. The courtyard is flanked by a large iwan behind which is the restaurant dining room. The walls are excavated from niches where ancient books and vases of China are aligned: the private collection of the hotel manager. The wall is adorned with Hebrew sentences. A second dining room is located in the basement in the old warehouses. Proof of the historic value of the building is under the protection of UNESCO. The staff were very helpful and the staff were very helpful. A safe value and a time trip that are welcome in Boukhara!

MINZIFA BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Hotel €€

The owners used bricks from the 17th century to rebuild this hotel according to the Bukharian tradition. The establishment is divided into 3 parts: Mizifa Inn, Minzifa Boutique Hotel and Caravan Saray. Each part is unique but all three are united by excellence. The rooms are furnished with selected antiques and are organized around two central courtyards. The main courtyard remains cool even in summer and you can rest there during the hottest hours. The prices are not excessive in relation to the services offered.

USMAN HERITAGE HOTEL

Hotel €€

Situated behind the Nadir Divanbeg Madrasa, a short walk from the Liab i Khaouz, this hotel offers beautiful, well-appointed and well-equipped, comfortable rooms. You will appreciate the wooden ceilings, the spacious bathrooms with bathtub and the quiet central courtyard. The breakfast room is in the basement, but pleasantly decorated, and the buffet is copious. Everything contributes to place this hotel in the luxury category except... its prices, which remain reasonable. A good deal, especially since the staff is charming and attentive.

HOTEL ZARGARON PLAZA

Hotel €€

Opened in March 2020, in the heart of the old city, this modestly sized establishment does everything to play in the big league. The reception under a glass dome and decorated with openwork marquetry sets the tone: the emphasis has been placed on the decor and the oriental atmosphere of the common areas, including the roof terrace, which offers an exceptional panoramic view of the city. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious: the furniture unfortunately does not offer the same oriental touch, but is comfortable and functional.

NAZIRA & AZIZBEK

Hotel

Charming house with balconies and bedrooms upstairs around a small courtyard, all very well located, a stone's throw from Liab-i-Khaouz. Excellent welcome and everything you need for a comfortable stay even if the equipment of the rooms remains minimalist (television and air conditioning all the same). A small effort on the decoration would not harm, but overall it remains correct with regard to the price displayed. Some cheaper rooms, with separate and shared bathroom. Nazira can organize tours of the city and the surrounding area.

HOTEL CARAVAN

Hotel

The hotel is conveniently located, just behind the Kalon Mosque and within walking distance of the imposing fortress wall. After the rather anonymous lobby, you will discover rooms with a more traditional decoration, rather well equipped, and for some (rare), with a view of the domes. The restaurant serves local and family cuisine, and breakfasts can be served in the large courtyard, which has a pool and an iwan where you can relax in the shade during the hottest hours of the day. Good management and friendly staff.

HOTEL ZERAVSHAN

Hotel

Ideal for microportefeuilles, provided you don't have to look at hygiene and comfort. The service is non-existent, the capricious and colorée warm water, but in any case bathrooms are more a museum of coexistence between insects and fungus than a place where you wash. At the time of our passage, the hotel no longer had a licence to accommodate tourists. But individuals can always try to negotiate and get the local fare, which is often done with the help of a taxi driver knowing the address.

SASHA & SON

Hotel €€

The decor is neat and this old house in the Jewish quarter has been well renovated when it was converted into a B&B. Rooms and dining room are entirely decorated in the oriental style. The rooms overlook a small inner courtyard where it is good to relax and enjoy excellent cuisine. Despite the temptation to expand, the address has always remained on a human scale and is very pleasant to live at. A little further down the same street, at number 60, another Sasha & Son address offers slightly more luxurious rooms, in European style.

ASIA BOUKHARA

Hotel €€€

Like all the establishments of the Asia chain, the location is impeccable between the Liab-i-Khaouz and the dome of the hatters. It was feared that the presence of this hotel would distort the surrounding architecture, but in the end the result is not so catastrophic compared to other hotels that have recently appeared in the old centre, with a façade reminiscent of the shapes and colours of the city's madrasas. Nevertheless, and even if there are no criticisms to be made about the rooms, all this lacks a bit of charm and authenticity.

HOTEL SULTAN

Hotel €€€

The closest hotel to the central basin, the Liab-i-Khaouz, is an upscale hotel with comfortable modern facilities and well kept rooms. Some rooms, in the luxury category, have a beautiful view of the basin. The others, even without the view, are also very livable and well equipped. Nice interior courtyard with iwan for breakfasts and dinners, also a dining room in the basement for rainy days. Western style luxury without being far from the city center.

The strength of this small establishment lies in its incomparable charm. The rooms are arranged in the old cells of the madrasah, around a cool and pleasant courtyard where a comforting tea is always waiting for you after a day of discovery of the city.
