This name was given to the Prussian town of Rastenburg, which became Polish in 1945, as a tribute to the historian Wojciech Kętrzynski (1838-1919), who studied the history of the Poles in this part of East Prussia. The town is known for its rich historical heritage, not least thanks to Rastenburg Castle (also known as Kętrzyn Castle) and the Wojciech Kętrzyński Museum, dedicated to both the historian and the history of the region. Kętrzy will satisfy culture, history and nature enthusiasts. Indeed, this town is an interesting stopover on your route, especially if you're planning to visit the region's lakes.
