In the 2000s, Łódź town council undertook a major renovation, transforming the former factories dependent on the Poznański Palace into a cultural, commercial and leisure complex. Opened in 2006, the area has quickly become a popular spot for locals, offering a multitude of services and activities. Manufaktura's great strength is that it has retained its postmodern atmosphere, in an industrial setting, despite the establishment of stores, cafés and boutiques. Concerts, markets and festivals are held outdoors during the summer months.
