The hotel is located behind Sjøgata Street, an old street in the city centre that deserves to be listed. Built two centuries ago, it is the oldest hotel in Northern Norway. A farmer's son and a sea captain obtained a royal licence in 1794 to run an inn and trade in Mosjøen. Later, in 1885,^Mrs Ellen Haugan bought the hotel, which has remained in the family ever since. Salmon and trout fishing can be done from the large garden surrounding the hotel.
