Bordering Angola along the Kwando River and a small part of Namibia to the south, it is thethird largest park in the country, covering 5,000 km² isolated in the extreme southwest of the country. It remains however far from the attention of the tourists. This is a pity, because the park is home to some interesting species, including elephants, Angola giraffes (an endemic subspecies), zebras and antelopes, including the very rare black hippotrague. A few lions, hyenas and leopards have also been reported. Unfortunately, these animals are few in number, having suffered greatly from poaching during Angola's civil war.Kavango Zambezi National Park, or KAZA.
