French people have to pay 30 US$ for a 30-day visa; please bring a passport photo. Rate increased by 1 US$ on weekends, after 4pm or at the officer's discretion. Attention, E-Visas are not accepted here.

The Thai border post of Chiang Khong is open from 6am to 10pm. It is possible to go back and forth to Thailand during the day to have your passport stamped (free of charge) in Chiang Khong and return to Laos for a new one-month visa (30 US$).
