Charming small town, 8 km away from Ibb, on a hill, surrounded by two ouadis. His foundation dates from the last queen of the Souleyades dynasty, Queen Aroua bent Ahmed. This dynasty, of fatimide rule, was introduced into Yemen by Ali Al-Soulayi, who had come to propagate the ismaïlisme in Jebel Haraz in 1038. Soon he froze the Tihama with City, the center with Sana'a, and the south with Ta, Aden and Hadramawt. His power was quickly contested and he was assassinated. The flambeau of the dynasty was taken up by his son, Moukarram, and then by Queen Aroua, the latter's wife, who remained in power for fifty years (she died in 1138). The Queen abord first in Sana'a, where she restored the Great Mosque, and then did not want to be in conflict with the zaïdites imams and northern tribes seeking to recover the capital, she made Jibla her residence. It developed agriculture by financially supporting the construction of terraces, and built in Jibla the Great mosque and Palace. A fine scholar and very religious, she was able to bring peace, culture and economic growth to the region.
