Museum on the heights of Omaha Beach, featuring thousands of rare and original items bearing witness to the Second World War

On the heights of Omaha Beach, here’s the "hangar-museum" of a passionate collector. Michel Brissard (now deceased) spent his life unearthing thousands of rare and original items, witnesses and souvenirs of the Second World War. No digital or 3D effects, just the authenticity of a heritage bequeathed to each and every one of us. Glassware found in Hitler’s bunker: enough to send shivers down your spine! Linger over the scenery, signage and regularly changing reconstructions on 3,000 m² of an authentic American period building. It’s a museum that moves, lives and changes with each new discovery. Goliath tank, Enigma encoder, paratrooper motorcycle, personal belongings of American, British and German soldiers. Outside, the LCPV "Higgins Boat" barges, the German armoured coastal defence turret and artillery pieces are other treasures. The reconstructed floating gangways of the Mulberry (artificial harbour) are a must-see and impressive sight, and are preserved in the village. Michel Brissard discovered them by chance in a warehouse in Indre-et-Loire in 2004. Sixty years after June 6, 1944! We’ll leave you to discover the rest, and appreciate the warm welcome from the hostesses, who are keen to keep the collector’s memory intact. We leave with the impression that we haven’t seen everything in this museum "dedicated to the soldiers who fell at Omaha". A true place of remembrance not to be missed, accessible to all generations, with explanations.
